About Us

Colin's career in the wholesale watch industry spanned more than 30 years. Beginning as a qualified tradesman watchmaker, he went on to develop extensive experience in product development, marketing, sales and management. In 2017, Colin made a significant career change, joining Gracedale Retirement Village and Hospital. It was there that he discovered a deep sense of purpose and calling through serving in a Christian organisation. In 2025, Colin and his wife, Julie, made another significant move, relocating to Whangaparāoa to be closer to family and enjoy the lifestyle offered by the coast. They have since become actively involved in Whangaparāoa Baptist Church. These days, Colin and Julie can often be found enjoying a walk along Manly Beach, usually with their twin grandchildren in tow in a double pram - a wonderful reflection of their love of family and their new coastal lifestyle.

Peter Davidson has held senior leadership roles in both public and private companies across New Zealand and Australia. Currently, he runs his own business supporting manufacturing organisations. Peter has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors. Peter has extensive experience in church governance, including having chaired a large aged care organisation in NSW from 2008 to 2014 and Windsor Park LifeCare Trust until 2022. He currently chairs Baptist Foundation and is a board member of the Archer aged care organisation in Christchurch. Peter and his wife Joanne live in Manly, are members of Windsor Park Baptist Church, have three adult daughters and five grandchildren. They have been foster carers for many years, fostering over 60 babies and young children.

Ian is a chartered accountant with many years of business experience fulfilling directorships, senior management, financial roles and business ownership. He enjoys using his skills to assist people and entities with business strategy, restructuring, operational and financial management, contract and employment negotiations and human relations. He is currently the Finance Ministry Lead at Whangaparaoa Baptist Church. In addition to serving as a director on the Baycrest Village Board he also serves as a director on the Baptist Foundation Board and another Baptist Property Board.    Ian and his wife, Janelle, have lived on the Coast for 15 years. They have four children and nine grandchildren. Their shared interests include travel, campervanning, walking, cycling, and church life and service.  Ian also enjoys boating, fishing and home handyman work.

Nicky Gumbrell trained as a Speech and Language Therapist and currently spends her week working as an alternative education teacher for young people requiring extra support. She volunteered with Hato Hone St John for 18 years within the Pet Therapy Programme and is passionate about using animals to bring smiles and joy to the lives of others. As a trained Myers Briggs Consultant, Nicky has her own business, 3D Personality, where she consults with both individuals and workplace groups around understanding themselves and their different ways of relating. Nicky was raised on the Hibiscus Coast in the 70s when her father was the minister of the Whangaparaoa Baptist Church. She lives locally in Tindalls Bay and enjoys time with her three adult children and grandchildren, walking the beach with her dog, riding her bike and attending dance classes at Baycrest on a Monday night. Along with her husband, Matt, Nicky is a member of Cityside Baptist Church in Mount Eden.

Craig trained as a Quantity Surveyor and brings a wealth of practical expertise, technical problem-solving skills, and deep industry knowledge to the governance team. With a strong professional background in residential construction methods, utility infrastructure, and project management, he plays a key role in guiding Baycrest community's ongoing asset maintenance, building projects, and structural development. Craig, Cath and their three adult kids have lived on the coast for 20 years enjoying the community and lifestyle of Whangaparaoa. Outside of his board responsibilities and his commitment to the village's long-term success, Craig is an active and dedicated pickleball enthusiast. You can regularly find him on the court refining his competitive strategy, developing his skills, and participating in the local sports scene. In his downtime, he enjoys hands-on building projects.
